Black Cloud in Review

Let me paint a picture of my/our last week. It all began on Saturday night. We had a pool party that day and I basically worked in the kitchen and tended to Baker the entire day and spent approx. 10 minutes in the pool. So after a ZERO relaxing day I went to bed early. Until around 3:00 am when I was woken up to a...BUG crawling in my EAR!! I of course, flung it out. In my grogginess I didn't freak out..yet. When I gathered my thoughts I realized I needed to find this bug that was probably still alive. So, I get up and pull back the covers and found something similar to this:

Then begins the freak out. Of course I cannot sleep for several hours.

Cut to Sunday morning. When I did wake up, we decided to get ready to go to church but it was awfully hot. Why does our thermostat say its 84 in here? If you know me, I HATE to be hot and I get hot very easily. It really puts me in a bad mood. We realize our A/C just isnt working right at all. So, we pack up and head to my Mother-in-law's apartment. It has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. Oh, and her sister is in town for 2 weeks. SO, needless to say its tight quarters over there.
Since there is no TV in the bedroom, we decided to rent a movie and play it on our laptop. Brent put the movie in and nothing happened. So, he pops the movie back out and the DVD disappeared..into the computer.

Cut to Monday-a.k.a. "DAY OF HELL" at work. I also had an endodontist apptmoint to look at my super sensitive tooth. Guess what? I have to have a root canal. Lovely.

Cut to yesterday. I forgot to mention that a repair man came out on Monday and "fixed" our A/C and it began working fine. Until Wednesday. Brent got home and it was 86 in our house. This time, it cannot be fixed. We have to replace the entire A/C unit! Not only is that a billion dollars, but it could take up to a week to fix!! So, last night we began our lengthy stay in the apartment. Did I mention Brent's brother is coming into town and staying (with Beth & 2 yr. old Izabelle) tonight? So, 6 adults and 2 children in that tiny little apartment tonight.

Oh and one more thing, my camera is broken so I have no way to take pictures for who knows how long! Make that 3 more things: I woke up this morning with an eye infection and Baker has a cold.

Is this getting old?

We are headed to Dothan for the weekend for an impromtu trip and to stay with my parents and stretch out.

I apologize for the pity party, but when will this black cloud lift?

A much needed vacation!

All is well in the world now. Our little family headed to Destin this weekend for a wonderful long weekend. I took Monday off so we could stay a little longer and I'm so glad I did. Brent's brother, Glenn, Beth & lzabelle are living in Destin for the summer and graciously let us stay with them at their "resort". It was an awesome place with the coolest pool/pool area I've been too. Its perfect for kids and even babies. Saturday night Brent and I even got to have a "date night" while they stayed with Baker.
Pre bowl-of-sand-in-mouth

Baker loved the pool that gradually got deeper. There was an inch of water for a huge portion of the pool. It was great for him.

This little girl is a hoot! She is 2 1/2 and knows no stranger. She spent much of her time floating from family to family at the pool, talking, stealing toys, stealing food, and making us laugh. She is very smart and very funny.

They also had a huge area of splash fountains

In other news, Baker is 9 months old! What a big boy he is. I feel like he is very close to walking, but sometimes they can cruise and stand forever without starting to walk. So who knows? He is very sweet though. He gives us kisses and hugs and is still a great eater. He hasnt really ever refused any food that I have given him. I discovered this weekend that he loves lemons. We are just enjoying every moment with this little guy.

A-U-B-U-R-N and a wedding

What is more fun that going back to Auburn for a wedding? Not much. Not much at all. My friend Callie (from Dothan) got married in Auburn last weekend and I decided that I would take a road trip (alone) and let Brent & Baker stay behind. It was the best decision since we have braved the out-of-town wedding/hotel stay with a baby adventure twice now and it really is not fun. Baker and hotels just do not mix. They are not friends.

So, I stayed with my friend Lenzie instead! She and Clay just built a beautiful house and they have a precious boy named Knox. They were very sweet to let me stay with them Saturday night. Lenz and I ate lunch at Amsterdam. Auburn peeps can vouch that this is a must when you go back to Auburn.

The wedding was beautiful. Cal looked great and I had a great time seeing people I never get to see.
Beth is not one of those people, however she is one of those people that is a bridesmaid in everyone's wedding. If you are reading this, she was probably in your wedding. You can see we have the exact same tan.

The bride and myself.

I was excited to come home to this boy and his new swim shirt.

He's not giving up the wrinkle-nose smile

We are headed to Destin this weekend UNLESS Brent makes it to the finals in his tennis match. Say a prayer he loses. Just kidding...and not just kidding.

The 3rd and 5th!

Thats what we celebrated. My family came to Tuscaloosa on Saturday for a day of swimming, grilling & playing to celebrate Independence Day (which is what Brent makes me call it...weirdo) Anyway, I loved that it was laid back and just fun. I can't remember the last time my entire family swam together. I'm guessing 1984.
Even Honey took a dip!

Relaxing in the hammock. This nose wrinkle is his new thing.

Daisy enjoying some watermelon after her nap. Looking good girl.

Trying so hard to get a picture with their grandkids

"Let me get those glasses, Honey"

We did have my friend Jeremy and his girlfriend over on the 4th. It was good to see an old college friend. We go back to Eagle Point circa 2001-2003.

How did I celebrate on the 5th you ask? By getting myself a new car! My Jetta was having some major issues and it was just time to trade it in. So, went with an SUV! I'm excited since I've never had an SUV. It should be safer for the Bakester too.

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3: 12-14
