Beach Weekend

Its fun to forget how old you are, especially at the beach.

I love when my college friends reunite for a weekend somewhere. Its usually to celebrate someone's baby or engagement and this time was no different. We joined forces in Orange Beach last weekend to celebrate Susan's marriage, April's engagement and Holly's baby on the way.

Marie's mom was gracious enough to let all 9 of us stay at her house for the weekend and Meg's mom was gracious enough to let us have a shower for them at her amazing house across from the beach. Her house is one of those you walk in and immediately feel like your house is a decorating disaster.

We all met at Tacky Jack's as we trickled into town.
We got to wear beach attire to the shower since we immediately walked to the beach after the shower. Doesn't get much better than that!
Meg's mom's porch is just lovely.

We played a few rounds of "Loaded Questions" before heading to dinner.

The view

One thing I often think about is how as we get older, we will probably always just reminisce the old stories we have always laughed about and not be able to make new ones. Not because we aren't fun anymore, but when you have husbands and children, you naturally don't let the party get out of hand.

This trip surprised me with stories we will laugh about for a long time. Stories I'd rather not re-hash on this blog, but I'm glad we still have fun times in us.

Red, White and Blue

I'm a little late, but this is last weekend's post. We turned patriotic a little early this year.

We threw a small, laid back couples shower for Ashley and Jimmy's baby boy, George.  I got too busy to take pictures of actual people. Whoops.

UPDATE* Baby George was born this last week! He was a little early, but healthy and we got the party in just in the nick of time.

We celebrated this guy on Father's Day with some fun surprises. Notice his T-shirt. We LOVE "How I Met your Mother" and so I found this shirt on Amazon for him. He loves it. The girls got him an Alabama hat and Baker got him a gift certificate to Academy to buy tennis paraphernalia. We surprised him with Panera breakfast since we consider that a big treat at our house.

We had lots of leftovers from the shower Saturday night, so we decided to invite friends over for a cookout Sunday night as well. Baker loves Sponge and RJ.

This guy is the real master griller. If he offers you a plastic hamburger, you accept and ask for ketchup. Then, make very audible chomping noises and say enthusiastically, "That was SOOOO good". Or else.

Just enjoying the summer over here in Tuscaloosa. Stay tuned for a beach post from my weekend. I went to Orange Beach with my college friends to celebrate some weddings and babies.

Silhouette & Artwork

I've had my eye on a few crafts for the Bakester for a few months now. I absolutely loved these silhouettes I saw on Pinterest. The site I looked at actually had smaller canvases that silhouetted (?) her child as he grew. I decided to try my hand at just one for his age now. I might add more in the future, because I do love the way it turned out.
In the same weekend, I went ahead and knocked out an even easier project using a yard stick and painted clothespins to display your child's artwork. Super easy and useful.

I will just change them out as he gets new artwork. However, Baker apparently grew attached to the original display. See that cow down there? When I changed it out with butterflies, he totally said *gasp* "WHERES MY COW??" He is totally dramatic.

More Cousin Fun

We starting off a really great weekend with fun at the zoo Friday afternoon with our cousins. Baker hasn't seen Hayes and Watson in months!

"Really, Mom?" You have been talking about the zoo for 48 hours and now I have to wait to go in?
 The "Mingos"
 Kissable cheeks

Please notice the gorilla in between them chomping on his lettuce. He was awesome.
 Splash pad!
Watson was too busy eating his snacks to get wet.

I LOVE the look on Watson's face.

We had such a good time hanging out with Aunt Amy and our cousins. This just kicked off an unexpected great weekend. You gotta love that. We had company over, Pool time, Playgrounds, a date night, and just a much needed fun weekend. Summer is here!
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3: 12-14
