Celebrate

It was a weekend of reasons to celebrate. First, Baker turned the big 1-0 months on Saturday. I could go on and on about how time flies and it seems like yesterday, and so on, but I won't bore you with that..again. So, I will just say that we are insanely blessed with the most precious baby I could ever imagine. He is just so sweet and smart and funny. His personality comes through more everyday. With that comes more of his opinions and feelings, but I love that he is healthy and happy.

Second, we celebrated our 2 year anniversary!

Brent is the best husband ever! He is so giving and unselfish. He takes care of the house work like no man I've ever known. He is a devoted father, talented actor and singer, sports enthusiast, and sound mimicker. I wrote this in a blog long ago, but his ability to mimic sounds is amazing and very funny.
The best part is that he doenst even realize he is doing it. If he hears a tire squeak or a chair move or a loud machine of any kind he will make the same sound and its spot on.
He loves our baby boy so much and its wonderful to watch. They are BFF.

We also celebrated with Lauren & Brandon on Sunday at a baby shower to get ready for baby Alexis Rainey Rhoton. She had an awesome baby shower at the Tutwiler in Birmingham. We were excited that Glenn, Beth & Izabelle got to come stay with us last night afterwards also.

Since I love a list, lets do one in honor of Baker's 10 months!
Some of his likes and dislikes are as follows:

Likes
-Table food- I'm starting to see more of a love for table foods and less for baby foods these days
-Moving- He just doesnt want to sit still for long at all. He has to be up and moving, crawling, standing or walking! Toys are ok, but not his passion at the moment.
-Books- He is getting better at letting us read to him. Especially if he is a little sleepy. He likes to turn the pages (with great force I might add)
-His paci- I know I created this monster but I just don't know how we would have survived these 10 months without the good old Nuk pacifiers. LOVE them.
-To be "gotten"- particulary he loves for people to "come at him" this makes him laugh every time. You start from far away and then "come at him" in any kind of way and he will laugh a whole lot.
-The fireplace- Why? Why must you run straight for the jagged edge of the brick fireplace? Its wearing me out.
-Zoe- self explanatory. He just lights up when she is there. Laughs at absolutely everything she does.
-Big crowds- the more the merrier for our little socialite. He is just happier in a crowd.
-Outdoors- sadly we havent been out much in a while. Its just way too hot and Baker's Dozen is a sweater. I can't wait for fall to get back to our afternoon walks.

Dislikes
-Getting a diaper change- This just cuts into his busy time and he doesn't care for that
- Getting his nose wiped- I'm not a fan of the snotty-nose-kid so I'm constantly wiping and he hates it.
-Getting put into his carseat
-Going to bed before he is ready
-the transition from bath to towel. He has always hated this for some reason. Complains every time.

UPDATE: he has quickly been taking more and more steps. They said once they take a few on their own the walking happens very fast. He certainly has "stepped it up".

Step by Step, Ooh Baby...

NKOTB circa 1990? Anyone?

So Brent might claim Baker's Dozen to be "walking" but that might be a stretch. He has indeed taken his first steps and then some. Whats really cool is that we have been Skyping with my parents and they got to see him take some steps. Skype is great for out-of-town grandparents I must say.

Hooray Baker on your first steps and all of your accomplishments!

We are back!

My camera is working! So, this little man needs to show up again.

Someone loves his big sister, Zoe

What?

Mommy, I don't want to do a carseat photo shoot!

K, maybe I do.

LET ME OUT!

Happy Friday!

This is Katherine. She has never been to daycare so Baker was holding her hand so she would feel better. I love him.

Eh..

For lack of nothing better to post about, I just thought I would send out a little update. We still have no A/C. They are coming out on Thursday. Its a million degrees outside. I still have no camera either so no pictures. I am a firm believer that a blog without pictures is just boring.

In Baker news, he has moved up to a new class at school! I feel super sad about it mainly because he has started having separation anxiety from us. When I leave him to go out of a room or when I would leave him after lunch he has "come-aparts". Its just so bittersweet. I don't want him to cry of course but I love knowing he loves us and is aware of his surroundings now.

I feel like this is his most fun age. He is crawling everywhere and standing by himself for at least 30 seconds or so. If we hold his hands he picks up one foot at a time like he knows how to walk. So, I think we are getting very close. Most of all, his personality is really coming through. He has discovered some very odd noises and grunts that he uses often for our entertainment. If we laugh, he keeps going. He totally gets that. Its so funny to see them learn.

He has started waving "bye bye" if we ask him to.

He wears shoes now. My favorite are his "Pedipeds". If you don't have these, I recommend them for up and coming walkers. They are supposed to encourage walking. They advertise "the next best thing to barefeet" which barefeet is supposed to be best for them to learn to walk. (www.pediped.com)

The last few weeks I have been obsessed with Baker's 1st Birthday (Oct. 21) which in turn has caused me to be obsessed with finding him a cute Halloween costume. In looking on Pottery Barn Kids I see costumes for between $45-$50. Are they kidding me? They wear them once or twice for maybe an hour. I just cannot justify this at all. Its not like he can wear it again next year. So, EBAY, we meet again. I got a little bit crazy and bid on 4 costumes. WHY would I do this? I won 2. So, Baker will be a "chicken" and "Dumbo" this year. I know we will go to our church Fall Festival and then trick- or- treating. They were not expensive. Thanks Ebay!

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3: 12-14
