A creepy night...just in time for Halloween!

First, HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I love Halloween..always have, always will. Tonight we are going trick-or-treating, which I am super excited about. I now have an excuse! Zoe is going as a toasted marshmallow and Carly will be a Super Villian. I will take pictures.
As most of you know, we have a black cat, Licorice ("Lic") and he has to be hidden on Halloween for fear that someone will harm him. He is the best cat EVER! He actually comes when I call him. He is very affectionate and will willingly lay as close to your face as possible in hopes of being petted. His favorite position is to lie on his back, with all four paws in the air. You would think we would be used to it, but we laugh every time. Currently, we have rubber claws on both cats to keep them from destroying everything we own. So, don't be fooled by the blue claws in the picture. This is "who he is" now.

Now, on to what made last night so creepy. Well, it was the last football game for Bryant High School. Brent does the radio broadcast play-by-play for each game. (Which means he is out of commission every Friday night in the Fall...I'm not bitter) Anyway, the game was last night and Bryant is still holding strong to their 26 game losing streak. We actually thought they might have a chance against Oak Mountain. From the beginning, bizarre things kept happening. First, a referree was knocked down (and stayed down)on one play that Oak Mtn scored on. Had he seen the play and not been lying on his back, it would have been a flag. However, b/c of his inabilty to catch that, they scored. He was bending over, spitting, and looking very rough the next 20 minutes or so. So, at halftime the score was 20-7 (not bad for Bryant, and they were looking good) Then halftime rolls around and in mid-show for Oak Mtn, half of the lights go out. So, the band is performing and all we could see is there silouettes..SPOOKY. Then, just as the team is coming back on the field after halftime, the lights appear. Im sorry, but this has never happened to me before and I thought it was super weird. So, the game got worse, they scored lots of points..its 41-7 and Bryant starts coming back, but not enough. So, on the last play of the game, the score is 41-20, Oak Mnt clearly is about to win with 30 seconds left. They don't take a knee but run a last play and get about 2 yards..anticlimactic, right? Wrong. The game is over, players gather midfield to shake hands, band is playing and we notice that on that last play, two Bryant players are down...and I mean DOWN. Not moving. At all. So, coaches shew everyone back once they realized these 2 guys are seriously hurt and once the band stops playing, it was like a ghost town. Both sides of the stadium were dead silent. All players were on their knees, both teams said a prayer. Silence for what seemed like forever. The players still did not move. At this point, its obviously really serious. You could have heard a pin drop. There are about 20-30 coaches/adults surrounding them. Seriously, this went on for a good 20 minutes (which seems like forever when everyone is quiet, all eyes on the field)Finally, one of them gets up and walks over to his other teamates. The other one still has not moved. We could see and hear sobbing from one girl on the field. I fear that he is dead. They bring out the stretcher and the ambulance and finally one is taken away.

I am still waiting to hear how the player is. Say a prayer for Maleek. He is a senior, and this was the last play of his last game.

I was amazed at the class Oak Mountain showed for these players. They did not celebrate at all after this. They humbly walked to the locker rooms. Their fans, band, and everyone were just as supportive as if it were their team. I salute you Oak Mountain.

Friday Five...or Ten.

Since I did not do "Top Five Tuesday", I have changed it to "Friday Five" for today...except I'm doing ten. ANYWAY, its a stretch, but I am feeling very theatrical today and wanted to share my Top Ten Favorite Broadway Musicals of all time. Ok, this list was very hard to come up with b/c I love so many and I feel bad leaving some out. However, the following are MY favorites as of today.

10. 42nd Street
9. Chicago
8. Cats
7. Miss Saigon
6. Cabaret
5. Avenue Q
4. Thoroughly Modern Millie
3. Les Miserables
2. Rent
1. WICKED!! (of course, this one wins by a landslide)

Fun Idea!

Last night Brent had a fun, new idea for us to do. It was a perfect night (weather wise) so we grilled hamburgers. That is not the new idea though. We ate outside and then afterwards, was the fun part. Brent got a projector to project a movie onto the side of our house. We pulled the hammock up, with pillows and blankets and just laid outside and watched "Dreamgirls" (I promise I am not obsessed with Dreamgirls). It felt like we were at the movies, except laying down comfortable in the nice, cool weather. We just kept saying "this is awesome". Its a nice projector so the picture was very clear. An added bonus was that the puppies looked so cute trying so hard to get in the hammock with us. We let them up there and once they calmed down, we loved on them while we watched our movie. They stay outside so they dont get quite as much attention as if they lived inside. Great night all around!

Happy Birthday to Brent!

My sweet husband turned a year older today! To celebrate, Zoe and I threw him a surprise party at the house last night. Carly had a tennis match, so while he was out of the house, we decorated evertything and baked him a cake. I asked Zoe what kind of music she wanted to listen to while we worked. She was given showtunes only as choices, so she chose "Dreamgirls". She said she had to make banners and posters for him, so she did. We blew up 3,567 balloons and hung streamers. It was really fun. He was very surprised I think.

Now is the paragraph where I tell you some fun things about him. He truly makes me laugh every day. I am so fortunate to have a silly husband b/c it really is necessary for me. We entertain each other with the dumbest things daily. He is very patient with me, and very slow to anger. I think he got this from me (sike). Maybe its the first year marriage and it still being new, but we never want to be away from each other. I really don't want this to wear off.

Tonight we are going to celebrate at Cypress Inn in Tuscaloosa. We LOVE Cypress Inn. I also have some fun presents to give him. I am going to try to take better pictures since I am NOT good at this at all.

Tech Week

Last night began "tech week" for GREASE. This means we are in the theatre now with lighting, props, set, make-up and costumes. It gets very hectic and tiring in this week. We are usually there until around 11:00 getting things worked out. I do think it is coming along well though.

If you are in Birmingham or around the area, come see Grease at Virginia Samford Theatre. We begin October 17-26th. Visit the Centerstage website for more info.
www.centerstage-productions.org.

Also, we will be on Good Day Alabama Thursday morning at the crack of dawn if you want to see a few numbers. I will be doing "Freddy My Love" and it is VERY hard to sing and be in character at 6:00 am. Wish me luck.

This never gets old to me....

I'm sure most of you have seen this video, but I was just recently introduced to it. I could watch it 1,000 times and laugh each time. I LOVE IT!

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3: 12-14
